Role Description The Mortgage Loan Originator is a full-time, hybrid role based in Anaheim, CA, with the flexibility to perform some work from home. This role is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans by consulting with clients, assessing their financial profiles, and recommending appropriate loan products that align with Change Home Mortgage's offerings and compliance standards. Day-to-day activities include developing and managing a pipeline of borrowers, collecting and analyzing borrower documentation, coordinating with underwriting and processing teams, and ensuring timely and accurate loan submissions. The Mortgage Loan Originator will build and maintain relationships with real estate professionals, referral partners, and community contacts, while providing clear, transparent communication throughout the lending process. The role also involves staying current on program guidelines, regulatory requirements, and market conditions to support informed guidance for borrowers. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in Loan Origination and Mortgage Lending to manage residential mortgage pipelines and guide borrowers through the application process. Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Underwriting and Loans to interpret credit, collateral, and income documentation and collaborate effectively with internal underwriting teams. Candidates should possess foundational Finance skills to analyze borrower financials, understand pricing, and explain loan terms and structures clearly. Candidates should have excellent communication and customer service skills to build trust with borrowers, referral partners, and internal stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills to handle multiple files and meet deadlines. Relevant experience as a Mortgage Loan Originator or similar role in residential lending; current or eligible NMLS registration as required. Working knowledge of federal and state mortgage regulations, fair lending practices, and CDFI or community-focused lending is beneficial. Proficiency with loan origination systems (Encompass LOS), basic office software, and CRM tools; bilingual language skills are a plus.
